More About us

AVMC's Early Beginnings

1974 to 2011

Associated Veterinary Medical Center's story began in 1974, when the hospital was built to serve the Walla Walla community, caring for both small animals and equine patients. In those early years, Drs. Corey, Hobkirk, and Thompson established what would become a lasting legacy, one rooted in commitment to the community and the pets within it.

Who We Are Now

2011 – Present Day

In 2011, Dr. Emily Perkins and Dr. Sara Campbell took ownership, continuing AVMC's legacy while reshaping its culture and approach to care.

"Our goal was to build a culture of positive and supportive veterinary care not just for pets but their families, too." — Dr. Emily Perkins and Dr. Sara Campbell.

They began by building an approach to veterinary medicine centered around collaboration. All of the doctors work together in a shared space, regularly discussing cases and supporting one another. At AVMC, your pet's care is under the guidance of a connected team — not just one individual — so you benefit from multiple perspectives and consistent, thoughtful recommendations.
We strongly focus on compassion and non-judgment. When someone comes in, we ask: "What is your situation? What are your needs?"
— Dr. Emily Perkins and Dr. Sara Campbell

Where we are going

Drs. Perkins and Campbell didn't stop at evolving the approach to care. As AVMC entered a new era of serving the Walla Walla community, they also focused on cultivating a hospital culture rooted in collaboration, compassion, growth, and support for both clients and team members.

Today, Associated Veterinary Medical Center is a place where Walla Walla and the surrounding communities' diverse population of farmers, winemakers, and families know they will be heard, understood, and supported.

For over 50 years, Associated Veterinary Medical Center has been part of the lives of pets and families across the Walla Walla Valley. Today, that independently-owned, local legacy continues with a team committed to deeply personal, relationship-driven care, and a better experience for every pet and every person who walks through our doors.

Where we are going

At AVMC, our story is still being written—through every relationship we build, every pet we care for, and every family who trusts us. We're honored to serve the Walla Walla community with veterinary care that feels personal, supportive, and rooted in compassion.
