Pet Loss and Grief Support

Supporting Families Through the Loss of a Beloved Companion

Losing a pet is deeply painful. The bond we share with animals is incredibly meaningful, and saying goodbye to a companion who has been part of your daily life, routines, and family can leave an enormous emotional void.

At Associated Veterinary Medical Center, we understand how difficult this experience can be, and we want you to know that your grief is valid, important, and deserving of compassion.

Grief Looks Different for Everyone

There is no “right” or “wrong” way to grieve the loss of a pet.

Some people process loss openly and emotionally, while others grieve more quietly or gradually over time. Feelings of sadness, guilt, anger, numbness, loneliness, or even uncertainty are all normal parts of grief.

The loss of a pet can be especially difficult because of the unconditional love, daily companionship, and routines they become part of throughout our lives.

Please be gentle with yourself during this process.
