Fear Free® Experience

We Focus on Your Pet's Emotional Health

At Associated Veterinary Medical Center, we believe veterinary care should support not only your pet’s physical health, but their emotional well-being, too. Creating a calm, positive experience is an essential part of the care we provide to pets and families throughout Walla Walla and the surrounding communities.

We are intentional about recognizing even subtle signs of fear, anxiety, and stress, and adjusting our approach to meet your pet where they are. While the Fear Free® initiative was formalized in 2016, these principles have long been part of how our team approaches care.

Our goal has always been to reduce stress, build trust, and strengthen the human-animal bond, because when pets feel safe, we’re able to provide better care, and you and your pet have a more positive experience overall.

We Focus on Your Pet's Emotional Health

Every visit is designed to be as low-stress and comfortable as possible. We use a combination of Fear Free techniques and thoughtful adjustments to create a calmer experience for your pet.

Helping Your Pet Feel More Comfortable Before Their Visit

There are simple ways you can help reduce stress before your pet even arrives for their visit.

Stop By for Positive Visits

We welcome quick visits just to say hello. These moments help your pet build positive associations with the clinic, making future visits easier. No pokes, no exams, just pure pet joy with our team.

Use Familiar Scents and Calming Aids

Items from home, like a favorite blanket or a shirt that smells like you, can provide comfort. Species-specific pheromones, such as Adaptil for dogs or Feliway for cats, can also help promote relaxation.

Let Us Know What Your Pet Needs

If your pet tends to be anxious, let us know ahead of time. We can adjust the visit, avoid known stressors, and, when appropriate, recommend supplements or medications to help create a calmer experience.

Why choose us

At AVMC, we believe how your pet feels during their visit matters just as much as the care they receive. By creating a calm, supportive environment and taking the time to understand each pet's needs, we're able to provide a veterinary experience in Walla Walla that feels more comfortable, more personal, and built on trust.
